THE POSITION Are you interested in a career that has the ability to make a broad political and administrative impact within state and local government? The State Ethics Commission is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented professional with an investigative background to fill a full-time Special Investigator 2 position within the Western Regional Office in Pittsburgh. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Special Investigator 2, you will be responsible for conducting detailed investigations of financial conflicts of interests and other violations of the Restricted Activities provisions. These investigations are conducted of public officials and public employees at the local, county, and state level, and the investigations may result in administrative prosecutions and penalties. Work includes reviewing and analytically examining financial records, legal documents, contracts, bank statements, governmental meeting minutes, and other public records; reviewing social media and other sources; interviewing witnesses; preparing detailed investigative reports; testifying at hearings; and performing other tasks related to the investigation and administrative prosecution of a violation of the Ethics Act.

While this position is posted as a Special Investigator 2, we may fill the position as a Special Investigator 3 depending upon the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Intrastate travel required, including occasional overnight stay. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. The selected candidate must be available to work at minimum 3 days per week in the office or field, this is subject to agency operational needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements: You must possess a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Criminology, or any other relevant field. You must possess three years of experience conducting or assisting with auditing, fraud, internal theft, or administrative investigations. This position is located in Allegheny County, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. You must be willing to work in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualifications (not required): Progressively responsible investigative work experience. Four or more years of investigative public contact experience (i.e., reviewing and presenting records, correspondence, and documentation used in case prosecution, claim or credit approval, or debt collection). Curiosity, creativity, professionalism, initiative, attention to detail, patience, and a strong interest in good and honest government. Experience utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite of applications. Strong written and oral communication skills.
